Clinton Tractor opened in 1953 as a single Massey-Harris dealership in upstate New York. We've expanded to ten OEM lines and 800,000+ catalog SKUs — but the counter is still staffed by people who know which fitting goes on a Workmaster 95.

Why CROP?

CROP stands for Clinton's Resource for Online Parts. We built it for the mechanic working in a barn at 6 PM — the person who knows the part number off a sticker and just needs to order it without calling around. No "premium experience" framing. Just the catalog, the price, and a deadline.

What we sell

OEM parts for: New Holland Agriculture & Construction, Case IH, Ventrac, McHale, Bush Hog, Ferris, AGCO, Briggs & Stratton, Hotsy, Kress. If we don't stock it, we can usually get it from the manufacturer in a week.

Our story

1952
A newspaper ad seeking a farm dealer caught the eyes of brothers Dominick, Frank and John Calidonna. In no time at all, they became representatives of a Ford farm and industrial equipment dealership.
1953
The business was incorporated and the brothers purchased the 4-acre parcel formerly the site of the Clinton outdoor skating rink, where a 100' x 70' building was constructed. They started with 5 employees, including the 3 brothers.
1959
Put on an addition to extend the building further back and add more mechanic bays.
1961–1968
Took on the New Idea line of equipment, then decided to sell the family dairy cows and fully focus on the equipment dealership.
1970–1978
In 1970 we put on an addition to the right side of the building for parts storage and an inside showroom. By 1978 we became New Holland hay equipment dealers, as John Jr. graduated from high school.
1981–1984
In 1982 we put on a covered porch area in front of the store to display equipment.
1986
We became Uebler / Ferris dealers, back when they were manufactured in Vernon, NY.
1987
1988
We became Knight dealers, then Kuhn / Knight in the early 1990s.
1989
1990–1997
In 1997 we added on to the right side of the building for new office space and parts storage.
2001–2004
In 2001 founding member John Calidonna Sr.'s children, John Calidonna Jr., Regina Martini, Chris Calidonna and Becky Calidonna, took over complete ownership, running and managing day-to-day activities.
2010–2011
In 2010 we bought the neighboring Chevrolet dealership to create more service bays and equipment storage. By 2011 we became Ventrac dealers and purchased a building on Roberts Road in Clinton, now our setup shop: all new agriculture equipment starts there before coming to the main location. We also launched a complete business system, computerizing the dealership.
2013
Complete in-store remodel to create more sales space, offices and parts.
2018–2022
2023
Now we have 65 employees, with over 10 family members, selling and servicing hundreds of brands of agriculture, construction and residential equipment. We still operate from the same footprint as in 1953.
2024
Building a new service facility on the current property to service the larger agriculture and construction equipment more efficiently.
